Regional Strategic Symposium and 17^th Ordinary Summit Meeting 11^th-12^th August 2025

On 11^th -12^th August 2025, The East African Trade Union Confederation (EATUC) successfully held its Regional Strategic Symposium and 17^th Ordinary Summit Meeting at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

The two-day gathering brought together Regional Trade Union Confederations (OATUU, ITUC-Africa), Sub-regional Trade Union Confederations (SATUCC, OTUWA), GUFs (BWI), EATUC Affiliates and Cooperating Partners (FNV, FES, ILO, LO-Norway) to:

• Discuss emerging labour issues such as climate change, digital economy, informal economy, organizing strategies, trade and investment,
• Strengthen regional cooperation and unity for lauder workers’ voice
• Develop strategies to advance labour rights and social justice in the region
• Share experiences and best practices

This Symposium reaffirmed the power of solidarity, collaboration and shared vision in building a stronger labour movement in Africa.
