Regional Conference – Social Dialogue in East Africa, 7th – 8th September 2017, Arusha Tanzania

East African Trade Union Confederation (EATUC) and the East African Employers Organization (EAEO), in collaboration with the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI) and the LO-FTF Council organized the regional conference on Social Dialogue in East Africa on 7th to 8th September 2017 in Arusha Tanzania.
The regional conference brought together more than thirty participants from across the EAC Partner States, including the CEOs/Executive Directors from employer’s organizations, Secretaries General from trade unions confederations, national project coordinators of social dialogue project, and representatives from DI, the LO-FTF Council and the EAC Secretariat.
The main objective of the conference was to provide a platform to present EAEO/EATUC joint position paper on portability of social security benefits to the political leaders for discussion and adoption as well as to discuss general performance of the social dialogue project. Additionally, the meeting also focused on providing guidance to EAEO/EATUC and the affiliated national member organizations on the forthcoming engagement as well as to revise the work plans for national activities for 2017 and develop the new work plans for 2018.

- EAEO/EATUC Joint Position Paper on Portability of Social Security Benefits adopted by political leaders
- Work plans for national activities 2017/2018 developed by national project coordinators
- EATUC/EAEO to conduct a specific study to analyse the Burundi- Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) portability of social security benefits arrangement (EATUC/EAEO to develop Terms of Reference)
