EATUC in collaboration together with ILO – ACTRAV and LO-FTF Council, had the pleasure of hosting a Global Workshop on Organizing Informal Economy Workers in The Trade Union Movement on 23rd and 24th October,2017 in Arusha – Tanzania. The workshop brought together participants from 16 countries of Asia-Pacific, Americas, Europe and Africa.
In light of the adoption of Transition from the Informal to the Formal Economy Recommendation (No.204) in 2015, this meeting offered key workers’ representatives from 16 selected countries the opportunity to exchange views and experiences and also discuss possible strategies on how to organize Informal Economy workers and operators in existing structures of Trade Unions.
The workshop had a special session with Danish Ambassador to Tanzania who shared his thoughts on Social Dialogue and why informal economy is a priority to sustainable economic development.
