EATUC Committee of Experts Validation Meeting on Climate Change & Just Transition Policy Held at Peacock Hotel, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
The East African Trade Union Confederation (EATUC) proudly hosted a Regional Committee of Experts Meeting in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, focused on validating the Draft Regional Climate Change & Just Transition Policy.
This important convening brought together EATUC Committee of Experts from across East Africa region to ensure that the region’s response to climate change remains inclusive, equitable, and worker-centered.
The Draft Policy reflects EATUC’s strong commitment to ensuring that no worker is left behind in the transition to a sustainable economy. It prioritizes: Green and decent job creation, social protection and retraining for affected workers, inclusion of women, youth, and persons with disabilities and active labor participation in climate-related decision-making
Rooted in the principle of a Just Transition, as enshrined in the 2015 Paris Agreement, the policy positions workers as key actors in climate resilience and sustainable development across the East African region.
EATUC is committed to advancing both climate justice and economic justice through social dialogue, regional cooperation, and proactive policy engagement.
