7th EATUC Extraordinary Summit Meeting,30th January 2025 Arusha Tanzania

The 7th EATUC Extraordinary Summit Meeting, hosted by the Tanzania Union of Construction and Allied Workers (TUCTA), was held on 30th January 2024 at the Corridor Spring Hotel in Arusha, Tanzania. The Summit served as a pivotal gathering, bringing together Summit Members, EATUC Secretariat staff, and distinguished guests, including the ILO Country Director for East Africa, Sis. Caroline Khamati Mugalla. The presence of such key stakeholders underscored the importance of the discussions and the collaborative spirit of the event.
The Summit was officially opened by EATUC Chairman and TUCTA Secretary General, Comrade Hery Mkunda, who delivered a welcoming address. In his speech, Comrade Mkunda emphasized the critical role of the EATUC in addressing regional labor issues and fostering unity among trade unions in East Africa. He also highlighted the significance of the Extraordinary Summit in addressing pressing internal matters to ensure the continued effectiveness and efficiency of the EATUC Secretariat.
The main agenda of the Extraordinary Summit focused on internal issues of the EATUC Secretariat, including discussions on organizational structure, operational challenges, and strategies for enhancing the Secretariat’s capacity to serve its affiliates. Participants engaged in robust deliberations, sharing insights and proposing solutions to strengthen the Secretariat’s role in advancing workers’ rights and promoting social justice across the region.
In addition to the formal agenda, the Summit provided a platform for networking and knowledge exchange among participants.
